Teaching Assistant/Assistant Lecturer
School of Pacific Arts, Communication and Education , Tonga Campus - TLL001
The Opportunity

UU114 is the largest course at the University and attracts more than 2,000 students each year. The Appointee will prepare and conduct tutorials. The role will also involve academic advising and consultation with students, the conduct of individual and/or collaborative research and developing a respectable publications record. You will also mark assignments scripts and exams and initiate and develop subject or course materials. The opportunity to attend School/Discipline meetings and/or attain membership of relevant committees will also be made available.

The position will be based at Tonga Campus.


The Person We Seek

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

For Teaching Assistant Band 1
- A Teaching Assistant is normally expected to have completed four years of tertiary study, including at the postgraduate level, in the relevant discipline, and/or have equivalent qualifications and/or professional experience;
- Professional experience may include teaching experience, experience in research, experience outside tertiary education, creative achievement, professional contribution, and/or contributions to technical achievement.

For Teaching Assistant Band 2
- A Teaching Assistant is required to have a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline. Other Minimum Qualification Requirements may be stipulated according to particular disciplinary requirements, following international standards.

Must be a citizen of one of the USP member countries.

For Assistant Lecturer Level

An Assistant Lecturer is expected to have:
- A postgraduate degree (Masters/PhD) in relevant discipline; or
- In exceptional cases, to meet particular disciplinary requirements in line with international standards, a relevant postgraduate qualification or professional qualification with relevant industry or research experience;
- Other minimum Qualification Requirements may be stipulated according to particular disciplinary requirements, following international standards.

Must be a citizen of one of the USP member countries.

Preference will be given to applicants with:
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to conduct team / shared tasks

The position will be available for term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement for Teaching Assistant.

The position will be available for term of five years and may be renewed by mutual agreement for Assistant Lecturer.

Salary Range:

TOP $29,157 to TOP $34,998 per annum
TOP $36,439 to TOP $40,401 per annum
Assistant Lecturer: TOP $ 63,123 to TOP 75,200 per annum
