The Opportunity

The University of the South Pacific (USP) is one of two regional universities in the world and is the leading tertiary education provider and research facility in the South Pacific. We are supported by 12 Pacific Island Countries; Cook Islands, Fiji, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, Niue, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tokelau, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. The University of the South Pacific invites suitably qualified applicants for the Finance Assistant position.

The successful applicant will be a member of the team responsible for the safety of the Tonga Campus staff, students and all visitors. Ensure the security of buildings, equipment and properties belonging to the university. The appointee will be part of team involved in Security Operations at the Campus and will report all activities to the immediate supervisor.
The appointee will also provide general day-to-day keep and maintenance of Tonga Campus grounds, infrastructure and general landscaping to maintain a clean and tidy University standard. The appointee is expected to assist in security shift/work overtime to cater for activities organized by the Campus so that quality services and support is provided to all its staff, students and general public.
The appointee is expected to carry out any other official duty or responsibility as given by the Supervisor or Director of the Campus.
The Person We Seek;
To be considered for this position, applicants must have;
• Knowledge or training equivalent to the duties to be performed; or
• Completion of Year 12 secondary school studies without experience; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Preference will be given to applicants with:
• Related work experience as a Security or Caretaker
• Physically fit, very active and healthy
• Able to deal tactfully and courteously with the public
• Good communication skills in both Tongan and English Language
• Possession of a Driver’s License

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: Grade 1 TOP 6,067 to TOP 11,138 per annum
