The Opportunity

The appointee is expected to work in a demanding environment ensuring that all software developments required by the University of the South Pacific (USP) are carried out in accordance with standard accepted industrial methodologies as adopted by USP ITS.

For software development projects, the appointee will be required to be part of a team, carrying out requirements analysis, systems design, testing, coding and documentation.

Due to the varieties of Programming Languages available today, the appointee is expected to be able to code in any and be able to learn and adapt when required.

In regards to Banner Implementation the appointee will be required to implement or help in the implementation of specific Banner Modules/Functions.

The appointee will be expected to provide primary support for all Web-Applications.

The Person We Seek

The appointment will
• Assist in the development of application and database systems through analysis of business requirements, system designing and programming accordingly.
• Assist in providing technical support of the Banner ERP Student module.
• Assist in System Implementations and Software Evaluations.
• Provide primary support for all SAS web-applications.
• Provide data and support to various faculties, departments and sections.
• Ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of student data and information.
• Provide overall technical support to SAS staff

To be considered for this position, applicants must have:

- Post graduate Diploma in Computing Science or Information Systems with at least three years working experience.
- Experience in programmed in ASP.NET environment with C# or VB.NET
- Programmed in PHP, PERL, Java or Grails
- Programmed in C,C++ or Cobol
- Written SQL and PL/SQL
- Experience in development of web applications
- PHP scripting, Perl scripting, ASP scripting, Java Scripting
- Worked with MySQL or MS SQL server 2000 or 2005 or 2008
- Excellent problem solving skills
- The ability to work to a high degree of accuracy
- Good team working skills
- Carry out good documentation
- Be able to use Process and Software Design software
- An appreciation of wider business demands
- Good communication, presentation skills
- Awareness of software used in Higher Ed administration
- A willingness to keep up to date with developments in technology
- Awareness of implications of information laws, such as the Data Protection Act

The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Salary Range: FJ $50,184 to FJ $61,289 per annum
